all these missions from little joe, mercury, gemini, apollo, skylab, apollo soyez and columbia's first flight in 81' have just helped us so much for our progression to explore the solar system!!!

That's true! The astronauts found out on later Gemini missions how hard spacewalking was when they first tried to perform simple tasks outside the spacecraft. Gene Cernan and Dick Gordon exhausted themselves and almost weren't able to make it back inside. Cernan lost over 12 pounds just trying to stabilize himself and get back in the capsule!

Space walking is taken for granted today but someone had to be first for America and the late Ed White had the guts to pull it off-The Right Stuff. Remember, even though it appears that he's just floating around, he's traveling at 5 miles a second!
